英文： It depends on the situation.
和訳： 状況によります。
解説
- depend ＝ 頼る、依存する
「depend on ○○」で「○○による、○○次第である」という使い方が多いです。
「It depends on the price.」＝「お値段次第かな。」
「It depends on the weather tomorrow.」＝「明日の天気によるかな。」
様々なパターンがあります。
「It depends on the situation.」は定番中の定番なので、「It depends.」と省略されることも。
「depend on」という熟語として覚えがちですが、
「depend on ／ the situation」という区切りではなく、
「depend ／ on the situation」という区切りの方が英語的には自然な感覚です。
